Introduction


What is Length?
Length is the distance from one end to another end of an object.  It includes width, height, depth and thickness.   


Importance of Length
We use length measurements in many different situations every day.  Likewise, the measurements of the various landmarks and geographical spots also have been determined using the standard units of measurements in the Metric System.  For examples:



The Petronas Twin Towers (Kuala Lumpur) has height of about 452 m is one of the tallest in the world. 






Mount Kinabalu has height of about 4100 m above sea level is the highest mountain in South East Asia.






The Penang Bridge at 13.5 km long is the longest bridge in Malaysia and the 4th longest in South East Asia as well.



However, the Penang Second Bridge which still under construction is 24 km and will become the longest bridge in Malaysia and South East Asia.




The Sungai Rajang (Sarawak) at 563 km long is the longest river in Malaysia and one of the longest rivers in South East Asia as well.
